Blue Pansy
Pansy blooms are single with five petals that are rounded in shape. Pansy flowers have one of three basic color
patterns; single, with clear color (such as yellow or blue pansy); single color having black lines radiating from its
center; and with dark center usually called "face".
One quality of interest of the blue pansy is its fragrance. Some pansies have a delicate perfume-like aroma. Once you
have smelled and identified the pansy scent, it is unforgettable, but it is not always easy to perceive. But the yellow
and the blue pansy flowers seem to have the strongest scent.
Blue pansies can be found on Crystal Bowl, Delta, Maxim and Imperial series of pansy flowers. The Imperial serie is prized for its
non-fading colors and vigorous growth. Most of the blooms are faced. A longstanding favorite are imperial blue pansy
flowers, an All-American Selections winner in 1975. In Maxim series, flower color is light blue with a dark
blue face that is outlined in white. All Maxim pansy flowers are heat and cold tolerant. There are also so called
"Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" flowers open white, and then gradually turn light blue, then darker. Blooms early and
uniformly.
